Born in Carshalton, Surrey, Kevin Hall spent his childhood in Bath, Somerset. He attended the City of Bath Grammar School, then moved to Isleworth to study at Borough Road Teacher Training College. He settled in Hounslow with his wife, Lindsey, where they raised a family, and he taught for 38 years in two local boys' secondary schools.
