Settle down for an intriguing read. Drawn into a world that most of us only see in TV dramas, we get a good insight into the complex and shady world of espionage and Government Intelligence.
I love the author's powers of description and he excellently portrays his characters and often surprises us. They aren't always what they seem. Who can we trust? Who is deceiving who? You'll find the pages turning quickly when things take an unexpected turn. He keeps us guessing throughout.
Bang up to date, the author has obviously researched his topics well, and we find ourselves reliving the dreaded Covid, its beginnings, and its effects. We learn more about this pandemic which will forever be in the history books defined events as 'Pre-Covid' and 'Post-Covid'.
It's an enjoyable read, with lots of humor interspersed. You'll find yourself chuckling throughout at how the characters behave and how they are described. The author has a great turn of phrase.
You'll also find yourself gripped by the storyline and having another late night when you can't put the book down, as you are whizzed from the busyness of Whitehall to the quietness and beauty of the Norfolk Coast.
Who knew there was so much intrigue in the sleepy Fens and the East Anglian countryside?
