Graham Tuckley is a retired senior lecturer in Social Work. His formative working years were spent in the Royal Navy and his memoirs of this time are set out in this book. After leaving the Royal Navy, he worked with disadvantaged children, working in residential settings before qualifying as a social worker. After 30 years working in the field of social work and gaining numerous academic qualifications, including an MSc in Health and Social Care, he turned his interest to teaching. He still resides in Walsall, spending time writing, gardening, and travelling.

A hidden love that holds the test of time. Brought together by chance, from similar backgrounds and with similar interests, this friendship develops into love of the deepest kind. Through war the main characters are separated but their love remains firm. The descriptive nature of this work makes for compelling reading.

Sucked into the story from the very beginning. This was my first romance story and I couldn't have loved it more. It's got me begging for more! The difficulties faced during this time period and by the British specifically gave me as an American a lot more insight than I've been able to gather anywhere else. It felt like history from another point of view but with an engaging romance between too kind-hearted and like minded men. It was also interesting, as a gay man, to have a look into what it was like then for people like me. Not only was the war constantly on people's minds, but how they'd be viewed in a society where it's looked down upon.

A truly gripping and emotive book. Hooked into the story from page 1 and onwards, by the Author, I’ve read this from cover to cover in a matter of days. It’s been a thoroughly enjoyable and enlightening read. I was drawn into the lives of the characters immediately and found myself identifying with emotional struggles and prejudices they faced. The story is also true to historical facts; highlighting the horrific events of WW2 and the devastation experienced by many.
A fantastic read through and through.
