A delightfull read. I was dissappointed when I finished it Clarence is such a interesting boy i have missed him and his humour and his story telling. I would totally recommend it and i will look forward to reading the next book.
Great read, very interesting story would like to see more from this Author. Looking forward to a sequel!
Streets ahead of most fictional writers, a blend of wit, careful character mixing and the kind of detail that brings the past to life. Taylor excels in her atmospheric portrayal of early England. The dialogue sparkles with a life of its own and her historical research is unrivalled. A book you won't want to put down. Bring on the sequel!
I have really enjoyed reading this interesting book, it certainly kept me wanting to know what happens next to this little Edwardian specially gifted boy. I look forward to reading its sequel when he has become an adult and how his life transpires (a glimpse of which is towards the end of this first book). I think the author herself has cleverly portrayed the story.
I picked up this book and ending up not being able to put it down as I wanted to know what was installed for this young boy. How the story was interwoven with actual historical characters was brilliant and not forced. Growing up with the boy was very moving and now I can’t wait for the sequel. Pp
I just finished this book - and I loved it! I’m really looking forward to the next one. Well written, entertaining and interesting. Who knew all those famous figures lived at the same time? The spirit world is a very interesting place.
I really enjoyed this compelling story with its it's well penned and unique insight into the psychic world of the main character. Looking forward to more from this author.
A talented author who has a gift for creating a compelling character who comes alive and will remain memorable for all who read his story.
The Diaries Of A Gifted Edwardian Boy by Bronwyn J Taylor is a historical novel about a young boy with psychic abilities. This book is based on the much older book called The Boy Who Saw True which I actually read back in the 1990s.
The novel takes place from 1906 when Clarence was just six years old to 1919. It is written in a series of diary entries and letters. It is well thought out and put together.
We witness the inner workings of Clarence’s mind as he is first educated at home and then at boarding school. He is viewed with caution by some and as a kindred spirit by others. His prophecies are not always believed. As a boy, he encounters many challenges along the way which need to be overcome.
As the dates suggest, the First World War years are covered by the book. Clarence’s experience is very unique.
I found the book an interesting read and am looking forward to the sequel.
I received a free copy from the publishers. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.
