Loved this book. Read it over the weekend. Larger than life characters, many laugh out loud moments and even a couple of times where i was surprisingly moved to tears. My first thought on finishing it was....i hope there is more dennis to come.
Great book!Took only 3 sessions to get through this highly amusing read,set in the gentler times of the 50's/60's.The mix of humour and pathos blends superbly to bring back memories of everyone's childhood ups and downs,adventures,trials and fantasies.Can't wait for the next installment,as Dennis ventures into adulthood,or as near to it as any of us get!

A delightful romp through a boy's adventures in the 1950's and 60's evoking many memories of boyhood, Scouting and Military encounters that had me laughing out loud. Can't wait to read more of Dennis Bisskit's adventures.
Before you even open this book the cover and the name get you completely hooked and compelled to read the novel. It was obviously going to be full of fun and adventures.
Most books have a hook in the first few lines of the actual story to grab the audiences attention so they will keep reading, this novel not only hooked you in the first few lines but also by the cover.
The novel was written so the reader could visualise what the author was trying to convey. Straight away I went into the world of Dennis Biscuit, his family friends and adventures.
The sign of a good book to me is when I get to the end and I am disappointed and this is exactly what happened when I got to the last page.
I could relate to all Dennis's adventures due to Mr Ainleys unique style of writing, the humour and the realism conveyed.
I enjoyed The Dennis Bisskitt Adventures and am hoping that there is a sequel on the drawing board. I am interested to find out how Dennis's life pans out.

That Cumbrian wannabe-Shakespeare bloke (who was so incredibly pretentious that he changed his surname to reflect what he believed to be the value of his literary scribblings) once churned out a frankly bizarre line or two about wandering lonely as a cloud. Well, you'll never ever be lonely, or indeed feel the need to wander about aimlessly if you've got a copy of the incredibly incredible book 'The Dennis Bisskit Adventures' in front of your nose. From the very second you open this hilariously funny book you'll be well and truly engrossed as you follow the mishaps and adventures of an accident-prone awkward young drip of a lad from the Midlands on an amazing journey through to adulthood. Along the way you'll visit such varied places as Skegness, Calais and Kampala and meet some unbelievably believably colourful characters like Mrs Cruskett, Stinky Blackshaw and Gladys Ricketts......before crash-landing with a bump onto Planet Plunkett.
Steven Ainley's 'The Dennis Bisskit Adventures' is a fantastic and amusing read that leaves you with a feel good factor and wanting more. Bring on the sequel.....and a prequel please.
So glad that someone recommended this book to me. Best laugh I've had in a long time. Lovely characters and some hilarious situations. Hope to read more of Dennis's disasters.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book it made me laugh from start to finish, anything poor Dennis does always seems to end in disaster but somehow he always manages to look like the guy who saved the day.
It's well written, it's heartwarming, sometimes sad but mainly the book is very comical. It also has a very strong message that no matter what anyone thinks, if you put your mind to it you can achieve anything.
I highly recommend this to anyone who has links to the forces whether it be past or present because I can guarantee they will have encountered a Dennis Bisskit in their career! However it is also a book suitable for the whole family. You won't be dissappointed if you read it.
Came across this book by chance, but glad I did. Lots of laughs, some sad bits, great characters. Truly enjoyable. Hope there is more of Dennis to come.
This is a marvelous indirect portrayal of the innocence of life while growing up in England immediately after WW2 and later. You quickly get to like young Dennis, an unassuming boy who can't help finding himself in difficulty, then just when you wonder how he will get out of it, it gets worse! This is really funny, easy to read and full of nostalgia for anyone who grew up in this era, and even those who did not. I highly recommend this book for anyone with a sense of humor or needs cheering up..
