Kathy Tierney is a writer who has won seven literary awards: a book prize in a 1982 national newspaper competition for a science-fiction short story, Joint first prize in the local section of the 2004 Newcastle Poetry Prize, first prize in the 2005 Denis Butler Memorial Award (free form poetry), a commendation award in the 2007 Roland Robinson Literary Award, second prize in the 2017 Bessie Jennings Award Literary Writing Competition, Highly Commended in The 2021 Bridport Prize (short story) and Third Place in The Anansi Archive Autumn 2021 Poetry Competition. She has been published in various literary journals and anthologies, and recently published a novel The Social Prophet. She has an associate degree of creative writing from Southern Cross University and a bachelor of creative writing with distinction from Deakin University in Australia. This is her first novel. Kathy enjoys running, playing violin and piano, and reading. She lives in Australia.
