Linda and her grandchildren pick up a nine-week-old Cavoodle—a cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle—from a breeder.

Two years later, Linda and Callie the Cavoodle experience numerous adventures together, including a rescue by a lifesaver, a visit from a large diamond python, a baby possum rescue, a kookaburra rescue, an unexpected lake swim, surviving a paralysis tick and more.

The history, flora and fauna of the picturesque Central Coast of NSW, Australia, provide a backdrop to the story. Callie’s adventures take place at beaches and cycleways around the coast and in the backyard of Linda’s house.

A number of Callie’s adventures include Linda’s daughter, Amber; her husband, Matt; and their children, Connor and Chloe, aged nine and seven. The adventures resolve happily at the conclusion of each chapter and an exciting event occurs in the final chapter.

Kimberly Bates and her husband have lived on the Central Coast of NSW in the same house for thirty years. Their home is located in the remnant bushland teeming with wildlife. They have two married sons and a delightful eighteen-month-old grandson.

Since moving to the Central Coast, Kimberly has worked in various child-related positions including teacher’s aide, out-of-school-hours educator and contact supervisor in the foster care sector.

The idea for her first novel showcasing the picturesque Central Coast developed after walking with her friend and her friend’s adorable Cavoodle at beautiful Terrigal Haven.
