‘I Was A London Firefighter’ by David C. Pike made it to the finals of Book Awards
David C. Pike is excited to share that his book ‘I Was A London Firefighter’ was nominated for The Wishing Shelf Book Awards, and it has made to the finals. We have high hopes for the book and are cheering for it. In 2016 David Pike’s 'Fire - Floats and Fireboats' took bronze in the Non-Fiction Books for Adult category.
‘I Was A London Firefighter’ is an autobiography memoir of firefighters who served from mid nineteenth century to the last of 2017. Narrating the horrific events of fire claiming many lives in the matter of minutes, the author depicts the heroic competence of firefighters tackling truly tormenting catastrophes.
David C. Pike joined London Fire Brigade (LFB) as a young cadet when he was only sixteen. He quickly gained the status of an operational firefighter and was awarded the Queen's Commendation for Brave Conduct. He served in LFB for over three decades gradually promoting to senior ranks until he retired in 1996. He has several noteworthy contribution towards LFB. He also has four great books to his credit, all relevant to LFB.
