Yermiyahu Ahron Taub’s Interview at Deborah Kalb
The author of the book, ‘Prodigal Children in the House of G-D’, Yermiyahu Ahron Taub was with Deborah Kalb for an interview session. The author answered the questions about his book and what was really the inspiration behind writing such a book.
The book is about families and communities mostly evolving from ultra-orthodox Jewish or queer perspectives. The book contains shunning references to specific locations back in time, and the connection of the stories from the past. The protagonist steers into the religious traditions as he tries to reshape his life in a really astonishing way and often at personal risk.
The story also includes the long-forgotten love of an elderly woman, a vacation away from home that changed the lives of a mother and a daughter, a married Torah scholar’s romance in an unexpected way along with pronunciation, glossary and translations of Hebrew and Yiddish terms at the end of the book.
The author of six volumes of poetry brings quite a lyricism to his debut collection of short stories. The author, Yermiyahu Ahron Taub is the author of six books who has been nominated for many prestigious awards and is also the recipient of 2012 Yiddish Book Center Translation.
