The Waterstones Brussels Book Blog featured the launch party of the book Mirror City by Jay Conrad on 8th May 2019. In the launch party, the author read some of the excerpts from his book. The blog also shared a brief synopsis of the book that gives a little insight to the readers about the book. It was a gathering of the book lovers who enjoyed the book launch party. The author also answered the questions of the attendees at the end of the party.
The book is based on the letter written by Nuria Santos Malaboca who is a Water Archaeologist in Sombrayagua. In her letter, she writes about the time when Regent, a dictator finally died and the whole nation was rejuvenated by his death. In the meanwhile, her sarcastic father named Raúl, who is an army colonel retires from the Civil War to his native Monegro’s Desert leaving and declaring his hardly qualified mod – punk daughter incharge of the family business. After the unexpected death of her father, she finds about the origin of the damned bourgeois enterprise by Purificaciòn, her bohemian and alcoholic mother and Ignacio, her father’s mutilated accountant takes her back to the painful time of civil war.
Jay Conrad, currently living in Brussels was born in 1955 in Netherland. He is a multitalented person. He has worked in different cities including London, Amsterdam, Berlin and Barcelona as a bartender, pizza cook, night watchman, musician and book trader. He is also a singer, a songwriter and Hispanist. He has released two albums as a singer-songwriter in 2019.
