Dhanmondi Road is a contemporary novel about a young Australian, Gareth McKinley, who arrives in Bangladesh after its war of independence in 1973. The book accounts for Gareth’s progress as he works for the care of destitute children. It excellently portrays the atmosphere of the country in a post-war environment. Author R H Young was born in Australia but moved to England in 1990s. He currently resides in East Sussex with his partner. He has worked as a university lecturer and social worker. Dhanmondi Road is Young’s debut novel based on his experiences working in Bangladesh during the 1970s.
