Robert Whitford’s Book was Featured by the Newspaper County Down Spectator
Julie Waters reviewed the book The Flight of the Gaels of Robert Whitford for the local newspaper County Down Spectator on Thursday 30th June 2022. The feature gives an overview of the storyline of this book.
The Flight of the Gaels is based on the Brexit Referendum 2016 that resulted in the exclusion of the UK, Northern Ireland and Scotland from the European Union against the will of the Irish and Scottish people. Resultant segregation was not accepted by the general public of Northern Ireland and Scotland back then, and similar resentment still dwells amongst them. This book records a storyline from 2016-2025, based on how Northern Ireland and Scotland could become a united Federation with a stable political setup and regain their EU membership. The author has proposed a complete modus operandi of how a practical and pragmatic government can be established for United Scotland and Ireland to retie the knot to get the well-deserved privileges of the EU for its citizens.
Robert Whitford is a retired civil servant who spent his life working for the overseas health sector on behalf of the Northern Ireland Government and developed beneficial contacts in the EU and European Council. He has an anti-Brexit sentiment and deems their exit from the EU in 2016 irrational. His first book, Born in USSR, was published in 2018, his second book, That’s Your Lot, was published in 2020 and his third one, Days of our Lives, in 2021. This is his fourth book.
