Tom Holmberg who has established expertise on Napoleon and relevant topics, and runs a dedicated website for the very topic has given a shining review to the novel ‘Napoleon: Uprising’  written by Benno Schlicker. He compared the book with the fictional account of Napoleon’s life given by Max Gallo and called the book Schlicker’s bold attempt to understand the working of Napoleon’s mind.

Young Napoleon Bonaparte abandons his safe Corsican homeland and sets off to peruse his passion for artillery. He joins the French army with big hopes for experience in French aristocracy, instead, he finds himself in face of corruption riots and rebellion. Determined to set right a society which sees him as a foreigner, proving his worth to save all he has ever loved. Shunned and despised, this foreigner proves himself the only saviour of France.          

Benno Schilicker is a teacher residing in Adelaide. He has an Honours Degree in History and an additional degree in English literature. He wrote a thesis on the Calvinist Iconoclasm in the Dutch Revolt which is showcased in the Barr Smith Library. He is a qualified History and English educator at Concordia College, Adelaide.
