‘My Friend the Horse’ by Alex Atock Gets a Review
Alex Atock’s book, ‘My Friend the Horse’ gets a review. The review says,’ the horse is so close to Alex Atock’s heart that it is not surprising that his book is written with passion, humour and at times anger. Alex’s influence improved harness and shoeing and tried to eliminate the merciless ill-treatment of horses.
The book is about the lifelong association of the author with the field of Veterinary and his journey from the initial years in general practice to a Veterinary officer in the Irish Turf Club. He also remained the head of the Veterinary Department of International Equestrian Federation and finally was the consultant to the World Horse Welfare.
He remained on very prestigious designations throughout his life which took him from the elite world of horse racing to assisting underprivileged working equines and their owners in developing countries. He worked closely throughout his time with the FEI and with the European Union. He was also actively involved in FEI relations with World Horse Welfare, the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and the International Federation of Racing Authorities.
The author, Alex graduated from a Veterinary College in Ireland and was shortly appointed as Veterinary Officer at a Jockey Club. He remained in the ruling bodies of many of the world prestigious organizations for the welfare of Horses.
