Gilly Hall Travers began her career having studied at Wycombe High School with A Levels in Latin, Medieval History, French and Spanish. She then went on to gain a degree in Latin and Ancient Greek at Bedford College, Royal Holloway University.

This is where Gilly started her Roman trajectory in Ancient Cookery and turned around the student suppers, (mostly tinned hot dogs) into the beginnings of Roman Feasts. Upon leaving University, Gilly worked with Jasper Conran and Georgina Godley aspiring Fashion Designers, managing their Fashion Shows and finances. She then moved on to look after BBC Radio Oxford, their finances, Personnel and Children In Need Events. She continued with Roman Cookery suppers subjecting her family and friends in the village of Chearsley to Italian delights, Buckinghamshire but then had a baby, Marcus and married Mark, the Engineer in Chief at Radio Oxford so had to take a little respite from the Italian kitchen,

She then moved into the annals of Television and was the Finance Manager for BBC1 and BBC Two. Gilly then became Business Manager for Daytime, commissioning such programmes as Doctors, Cash in the Attic and Flog it. She then stepped aside from Finance to be Commissioning Editor in BBC Entertainment starting with producing Dale’s Wedding, the blessed Dale Winton, Masterchef, Three Men in a Boat with Griff Rhys Jones, Dara O Brian and Rory McGrath. Only Connect with Victoria Coren Mitchell, Would I Lie To You with Lee Mack, Rob Brydon and David Mitchell and Have I Got News For You; and Entertainment documentaries with Sir David Frost, Neil Morrissey and Penelope Keith.

Gilly is now embarking on freelance broadcasting and has written this Cookery Book Italian and Roman Feasts and a Novel.
