Isabel Donnollan’s Author Talk Featured by Dyserth WI
Isabel Donnollan delivered a talk in regards to her autobiographic book ‘When We Were Very Rich’. The talk was featured on the social media platform by Dyserth WI, drafting a brief synopsis of the book and praising the speaking skills of Isabel.
‘When We Were Very Rich’ is a family saga rich in characters and depicting the history of Australia including the depression in the 1920s. Although a large family who did poorly on financial basis, they were rich in care and love for each other and house was full of affection.
Isabel Winnifred Donnollan was born in 1918 and belonged to a large family as she was the eldest of 14 children. She started teaching at the age of 19 and got married at the age of 23. She had four children and was elected First Woman Alderman to Rockhampton City Council and fought for the rights of female teachers.
