Hugh Rose Featured by The Gippsland Times for his Memoir
The Gippsland Times and Mafra Spectator featured Hugh Rose on their August 3rd community page. They interviewed Rose and talked about the experience he had writing his memoir at the age of 84. His advice to others who wish to write theirs is, "Just sit down and write a lot of bull, and stacks of it. And then take out all the dross, condense it, and then keep on writing whatever comes into your head. And you can write from memory if it's a memoir."
The memoir titled Don't Go into Town, Tonto explores Hughes's time in the service as a Royal Navy serviceman. The memoir is a page-turning tale of Rose's adventures in the Mediterranean Sea, including exciting events in the Suez Canal.
This is Hugh Rose's first novel. He left home at the age of fifteen to join the Royal Navy, where he worked in a copper mine and later on a lobster boat in the Tasmanian sea. He has also worked for the uplift of Aboriginal regions and currently lives in Victoria, Australia.
