GG Davies, a Blues Musician, has turned one of Leighton Rees’s Poems into a Song
Leighton Rees, the author of ‘Tales from the Gin Hotel’, has another reason to celebrate. One of his poems, ‘Golden Hills’, has now been turned into a song. Australia based musician GG Davies, was so inspired by the poem that he decided to make a song out of it.
Leighton, is a biomedical support worker and a father of three. He is an avid poetry writer and takes inspiration from the likes of Emily Bronte, Ogden Nash, Shel Silverstein, and others.
He has always enjoyed writing poetry but started writing again in 2010 when his first child was born.
The eclectic collection of poems comes from Rees’s meditation on love, loss, and everything in between. He speaks of his inspirations, his children, and rhymes in a darkly humorous style.
The varied style of poetry is what sets him apart. He can be grotesque, profound, and tender in his poetry and every word seems honest and real.
The ‘Golden Hills’, is one such poem and it caught the eye of the blues musician.
