The author of ‘Wild Imaginings: A Bronte Childhood’ Catherine Rayner was present at Spire Radio to speak about her book. This turned out to be a successful event for the author as she was much appreciated for her talk and especially the idea of her book.

This is a book that will take you to the memories of six Brontë children who were raised in the harsh environment of Haworth Parsonage at the edge of West Yorkshire Moors. It was the time of isolation, deaths were common and the educational system was harsh.

Their playground was the graveyard and their fun time was the stories of the kingdoms, imaginary islands and people.

Their lives were full of creatures from the fantasy worlds and also the horrors from the real world. This book tells the tales of those remarkable authors who were in the midst of those miserable times.

The book’s real-life events are as actual as mentioned in its factual content and fantasies are fascinating in nature as well.

The author, Catherine Rayner is a nurse who was a former English Teacher. She has been associated with the Brontë society since long and has worked for lifelong interests in the lives and works of many Victorian authors.

She was also involved for many years in the care of adults who were with learning disabilities and mental issues.

She is currently writing a literary handbook for walkers on Haworth and its surrounds, in partnership with her brother.
