The book, The Caledonians, is the story of a Scottish historian Mr Petrie who has been awarded everlasting life. Mr Petrie works for numinous superior beings and is told to find a young trainee to assist him in his life-threatening missions. Duncan Dewar could be a nominee but he is quite mysterious and being unaware of it; their lives are ineradicably linked. The Caledonians reflects the gruesome history of Scotland.                                                                                                                      

Yvonne Ridley is a British author and journalist with a successful media career straddling four decades. She has written several books but The Caledonians is her first fiction based book. Yvonne took inspiration from the scenery of her remote Scottish farm and vehement history of the Borders to write The Caledonians.
