A feature was published for Anita Mulvey’s children’s storybook, Dragon Times, on 21^st June 2022 in Isle of Man Today by Siobhan Fletcher. The feature highlights how back in 2018, her immune system went against her eyes, leaving her blind, but her optimistic approach led her to venture towards adopting another creative career.

Dragon Times is targeted at junior-age kids. It comprises balanced stories based on two siblings, Alexander and Lily. Due to an outbreak of an international pandemic, lockdowns are established in schools. Lily and Alexander are sent off to live in the family friend’s gigantic house. Little did they know that the grounds of that house were home to a dragon who gave birth to a baby. Whilst baby dragon learns to puff smoke and fly, both the siblings watch and learn a load of lessons they could never have learned through school. It is a feel-good story for children with moral lessons. The way it has been presented and comprises brief stories is effective for ensuring a fun and learning simultaneously for the kids.

Anita Mulvey lost her sight in 2018 in a matter of 5 days and consequently retired from elementary school teaching. She resides in Hampshire, on the Isle of Man. Via the support of Sight Matters, she’s been able to pick up a new career as a children’s author. Sight Matters has enabled more than 500 blind handy-capable people to write by installing suitable software on their laptops.
