An article was featured for Australian Herpetological society about Austin Stevens’ book, ‘Running Wild’. The article consisted of an interview with Austin as a herpetologist in the wild and all his experiences from the past.

This is a book about the Austin and from his early days at the Hartbeespoort Snake and Animal Park to his military conscription during the late ‘70s and up to his fame, working in a renowned TV show on Animal Planet. The book is an autobiography and a memoir about his extraordinary encounters with some of the world’s deadliest creatures. These include starting down from a black mamba or retrieving a runaway chimpanzee to the accounts of his exciting and humorous meetings with these widely featured creatures.

This book is both reflective and personal with a touch of his personal life experiences like his relationship with his wife dealing with depressions after suffering a string of misfortunes including a horrific accident and a vicious knife attack. There has never been a dull moment in the author’s life. It has been full of captivating stories about adventures with reptiles, wildlife and filmmaking. He basically shares with us the reminiscences of his past experiences.
