Human Model
In Human Model, Dr. Issam Wadi summarises and explains more than 40 years of professional and academic research into human and social behaviour. He examines important aspects in our lives by showing how human and social systems are deeply influenced by universal, natural processes. He shows how research in the natural and social sciences can help to illuminate complex human processes, using friction theory to explain how human beings relate to one another, how resonance theory provides us with a better understanding of mass behaviour, advertising, and marketing, and how feedback theory explains human behaviour from a management perspective.
Drawing these parallels between natural and human systems helps to illustrate the way that human beings are embedded within larger, natural processes, as well as supplying a much clearer and easy to understand approach for readers and researchers. With the starting blocks in place, one can then begin to use proven scientific theories and social models to develop more sophisticated analyses and studies of complex social behaviour, from mass movements and crowd psychology to financial markets and economic forecasting.
This book is an important milestone in the modelling and understanding of human social behaviour and aims to contribute both to a broader mainstream understanding of these fields and further research through these versatile social modelling tools. Human Model also explains the author’s own ‘Zero Sum Theory’ for explaining happiness in life and how this can be affected by the individual’s own mental models, while providing further reflections on the impact of technology on modern life, social behaviour, the family, and society more broadly.

Humble Beginnings
This is a simple tale of a family of eight children (six girls and eventually two boys) who lived in a village in South Devon.
There are some aspects of this story that will make you laugh and plenty that will make you think, but I hope that you will persevere and read on until you get to the “gems” at the end of the main story - they will certainly give you something to consider. They are not fantasy, nor wishful thinking - they are all true!
Here are just a few highlights, there are many, many more:
- A child’s unswerving belief in her best “friend”
- The end of a cherished swimsuit
- The German doctor who became Sheila’s saviour
- Moments of fame in a talent competition
- Adventures with Georgina the goat
- How Sheila and Ivor dealt with the “Agricultural Lease” attached to their property
- The merits and unbelievable talents of Sheila’s Husband Ivor
- The wonderful Soul Rescues (because of COVID) that even now are taking place
- Successful spiritual healings and Sheila’s Mother’s “out-of-body” experience (not to be missed!)
This story is a mixture of magic in a way - not the Harry Potter kind but real magic - certainly, a lot of sadness but tons and tons of happiness also but read it and realise that life is for living and that passing (there is no death) is something to look forward to, not to dread.
Please read my story – you will be glad you did!

I Am a Christian
The author is a scientist and not a Bible scholar or teacher. His conversion from a churchgoing Christian to real Christian lasted years, if not decades. The transformation was completed in 1983 when he bought NIV Bible for £4.50. In the 1990s, he was impacted by many Christian TV channels that he regularly watched, in addition to regular Christian literature. On 7 October 1992, he started reading his Bible from cover to cover and cycle after cycle. The fruit of that transformation is his first book about the Christian faith. It is a book for everyone, Christians and the ones on the road to become Christian. In this book, he talks about Christianity and what it means to be a Christian. He highlights the core Hebrew Bible and Jesus Christ’s ministry. Many quotations about the Christian faith are given in addition to a large section of Christian dictionary to define every aspect related to a Christian person.

I Do Not Want a Fish Finger Sandwich
Being shown the private convenience of the Queen of England in The House of Commons was not the career highlight that Viv had expected. A dazzling profession as a Prima Ballerina had been her plan but having two legs of the same length and width would appear to be a pretty strong prerequisite for a successful livelihood in that arena, not to mention a couple of ballet lessons at least.
What did happen along the way were a random selection of activities which were not anticipated either:
- Inter-store “It’s a Knockout” on Cable TV
- Jumping the queue at the Austria/Slovakian Border Control
- Attempted mugging in Bratislava
- A West Highland White disgrace on National TV
- Acquiring a temporary Iranian Bodyguard
- Drinking schnapps in an isolated house in Eskilstuna

I Was a London Firefighter
What is a firefighter?
They are the person next door…
They are like you and me with warts and worries and unfulfilled dreams.
Yet they stand taller than most of us.
The latest book from author and retired fireman David Pike, I Was a London Firefighter is an anthology of factual narratives and fictional tales loosely based around the personal experiences of individual members of the London Fire Brigade. Ranging from the mid-19th century to the present day, the book includes direct reminiscences by former firefighters alongside descriptions of key historical figures like Massey Shaw, Sidney Gamble and Joe Milner. It takes in such subjects as the IRA’s 20'year bombing campaign in London and the changing status of female firefighters.
Running through the book is a series of gripping historical narratives subtitled ‘Yesteryear’s Fires’, depicting the heroic professionalism of firefighters confronted by truly harrowing disasters. Some of these remain all-too-familiar, such as the King’s Cross fire of 1987 which claimed the lives of 31 people; others, no less terrible, have faded into distant memory. The book ends with a fresh and compelling description of a horrifying tragedy that no one can have forgotten: 2017’s Grenfell Tower fire.
I Was a London Firefighter shares with David’s previous works – Beyond the Flames, London Firefighters and Fire-Floats and Fireboats – a careful and comprehensive approach to historical research, an eye for striking and unusual narrative details and an understated humour. Above all, it shows an unwavering appreciation of and empathy for the concerns and drives of the ordinary firefighter, born of David’s own experiences as a fireman.£14.99
