The essence of my book

I lost my mind

And got it back with time

My mind is a complex thing

Only I know what it is like within

Concealed in my skull

It’s anything but dull

I tried to keep it sane

But it has its own brain

I lost control and got it back

But it’s that trust I lack

Not knowing what comes next

I converted my thoughts to text

To try and understand

Before I’m buried in the sand

I kind of know how you tick

But to society I am sick

Labelled as mentally ill

But I have a strong will

To conquer my brain

And learn how to maintain

A level of sanity

Enough to have clarity

And function within the norm

Without causing a storm

I lost you twice

As I rolled the dice

Gambling with my mind

Because I didn’t know what kind

Of illness I was dealing with

Now I know schizophrenia it is

I try to make my peace

With a mind that is never at ease

Now I wrote this book

And that much suffering it took

To describe my mind

But I think now it is perfectly timed

To share this book

With all the pain and sweat it took

I hope to spark a conversation

That puts us on track to that far destination

Where acceptance is key

And we can all live free

Charles and Charlie

Charles The Great - Charlemagne

Charlemagne was perhaps one of the most remarkable of the Kings of France. Born on 7 April 742, his astonishing rise to power has long fascinated historians. The founder of the Carolingian dynasty, he united much of Western Europe under his banner.

After he was crowned King of the Franks, he constantly travelled across his lands from Spain to Italy, defending his Realm, but also encouraging education, the building of beautiful public architecture, artwork, and the adoption of Christianity. There was contact with diverse rulers, from the Byzantine empire, the Saracens of Spain, Danish Kings and Kings of Wessex.

He had to deal with treachery from within his own family, and dealt with numerous other factions in his reign, subduing the Lombards, Saxons and Avars, sometimes with magnanimity, and other times with severity. He lived to see five Popes of the Roman Catholic Church, and was finally crowned Holy Roman Emperor in 800.

He, more than anyone else, made the European 'Dark Ages' light.

This amazing book has been on its way for a number of years – I was urged on by my wife Wendy. “You should write that book,” she would say, “the world needs a laugh and a small child a giggle.”

This book is for all ages and it gives us all a laugh. A mixture of fact and fiction, human, wildlife and everyday happenings. 

Suddenly, we have a major change in the world, and with time on our hands, we can tidy the garden shed and have a makeover. 

Having a very intelligent 6-year-old great-granddaughter, this amazing book was inspired by me thinking that I should write to Lexi May to get her reaction.

Charlie Ant 3: Scrambled Eggs and Chicken

Charlie and Sam are given a very important job to do by the Queen Ant and she must always be obeyed. They must figure out a way to complete the task without having to work too hard.

When the job is completed, Charlie and Sam feel very hungry and go in search of food, this is where the trouble really begins and they find themselves in an extremely dangerous situation!

To make matters even worse, the wizard ant is then sent to find them, and he is really angry about having his time wasted by two banana head ants...

In Charlie Ant 4: Ant Prison, join Charlie and Sam on their thrilling adventure as they embark on 'honey day' in the colony. As they join the worker ants in collecting honey for the Queen Ant, they soon realize it's not as easy as it seems. Charlie Ant: The Cake

Charlie and his best friend, Sam, are adventurous and love being outside the colony. This is eventually where the troubles begin! They love the queen ant and try their best to do everything she asks of them. They also do their best to avoid the "wizard ant". Their worst fear is to be made to walk on six legs like the rest of the colony.

Charlie the Cherry Picker

Modern life can present many challenges for young people as they strive to cope with growing up in a world which, as a result of peer pressure and unrealistic expectations, can sometimes just seem overwhelming. Charlie is such a child, and one who finds that the solution to these pressures may be found closer to home, and in an unexpected location. Charlie realises that she is not alone in experiencing these feelings and that help, and support is readily available. Charlie discovers where this support can be found and who can provide it in her role as a cherry picker.
