Wow- this book grabs you by the throat from page one and hurls you dizzily around the globe from one incredible adventure to the next. It feels as if it was written in one sitting, and that is the way to read it...it is not polished, but it is brutally honest, from the moment Oxford's new diet in Ecuador causes underpants chaos in chapter one, to the desperate and embarrassing rescue of overweight, a lovelorn tourist who was falling down a dangerous scree slope. His description of life on a Taiwanese squid boat is terrifying. It reads like Gerald Durrell on acid or an off-road Kerouac. Oxford is an incredible wildlife photographer and nature guide, and this book charts a manic love triangle between the author, Mother Nature and Planet Earth. Inspiring, hilarious and authentic. If you dream of adventure, love wildlife and the people who still live with nature, then this is a book for you.

A brilliant read. A great mix of laughing out loud, jaw dropping and deep thought. So many tales in one book, literally transporting the reader all over the world Petes vast knowedge, experience and passion for wildlife and our natural environment are openly shared and palpable. I highly recommend this book and hope there will be a sequel.

The best book I have read in a considerable time. If you simply want a light read then there is lots of interest and loads of laughs. If you want information on interesting places in the world, animals and societies, it is packed with excitement and detail. Above all, Pete Oxford's deep interest in the natural world and the desire to investigate and protect it. He has been to places you will never visit but it will grab you with amazement. He is not shy to share awkward and embarrassing details. You must read this book.
