Frank and Neil are two odd characters for whom life at the start was tough. Separated by one floor at birth, their friendship over the years grew to form an unbreakable bond.

From humble beginnings to stratospheric success, they rode the crest of a wave never once stopping to see what lied ahead. Aston Martins and trophy wives filled this idyllic existence until one day it was all taken away.

Blindsided by circumstances beyond their control, the world as they knew it then, changed. Plunged into a twilight existence, seldom seen by few, their once spectacular reign fades ever further into the abyss where anarchy rules.

Never had there been two individuals so unequipped to deal with life – in the gutter. And as their journey begins in earnest, a wealth of bizarre situations begins to unfold.

Then just when you think it couldn’t possibly get any stranger, enter a host of oddball characters in this most unusual of tales.

Scottish gangster, psychopaths and orangutans all add flavour to this rib-aching plight of two men’s struggle to survive.

Born in the 1950s, Jeremy Quirke stems from working class Irish parents. Being the youngest of seven children, his early childhood was spent learning from the tough streets of Kentish Town and Kilburn, London, England. Leaving school with no qualifications, he turned to the building industry for work and later on in life, was given the opportunity to learn his long-term trade as a fibrous plasterer. This gave him the opportunity to travel the world. With a wealth of obscure and hilarious life experiences behind him, he was keen to use this as his muse to create characters and situations within his storytelling. He now resides in northwest England, where he continues to write.

Just finished this wonderful book by Jeremy Quirke and I have to say that I couldn’t put it down for a second. It was truly gripping from the start to the finish. I haven’t read a book like that in years that was able to keep me completely engrossed. Felt like I knew every single character. Best book I’ve read in years. Well done Jeremy Quirke!

A truly great read didn’t stop laughing from first page to the last. You really feel like you get to know and love Frank and Neil through brilliantly engrossing writing that draws you in line by line. You get the same feeling when you finish this book as you do watching a great TV series whereby you want to start it all over again.
