Poetry from a doctor?

Sounds unlikely?

Then do take a look.

This is a poet’s dialogue with life

The eternal tussle of joy and strife

The sojourn of mind across countless miles

Of human affliction, tears and smiles

Dreams, desires, aspirations and hopes

Bound by Love’s invisible silken ropes

Thoughts untethered cantering along Time’s sands

This is not a book but my soul in your hands.

Neeti works as a qualified Psychiatrist in the UK.

Her poems are born from her own experiences of life and from intimate association with human suffering.

She has been writing since her teenage years and has won several awards and accolades for her work.

This book is a reflective and intimate journey through both the agony and ecstasy of life  and would be a wonderful gift for lovers of nature and soft poetry.

Neeti was born and raised in India but has lived in the UK since 1994.

She obtained her basic medical degree in India, then studied and trained as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. Later she went on to obtain a Masters’ degree from the Royal College of Psychiatry and currently works at a Consultant level for the NHS.

Neeti developed an interest in writing at an early age and during her childhood and teenage years, she wrote at local and national levels. In college and university, her short stories and poems were published frequently in alumni magazines.

Her passion for poetry took back-stage for several years whilst she grappled with the vagaries of life. It resurfaced a few years ago, leading to the publication of some of her poems on social-media sites. She developed a wide readership, giving her the impetus to publish this book.

Neeti also writes poetry in Hindi and plans to publish her next book of anthology in this language.

Nice and easy to read. Yet and the same time deep and thoughtful. Conveys ideas that one can readily relate to. For example, Dr Sandhu's poem - "Treasures" is one of my favourites. It concludes -
"For the most precious yet elusive treasures
Are not which money can find
    They are love, laughter, compassion
    Contentment and peace of mind."

So true. A most enjoyable work of literature.

I have known Neeti since long as a gentle pleasant being who treads mindful of others' sensibilities - a trait imbibed in early adulthood perhaps from an emotional trauma that was fated. She’s now professional assisting psychiatrist patients cope with life - routinely getting exposed to the complexities of their minds.
It’s known that folks leading ordinary lives rarely become poets - at least not ‘noteworthy’ ones. A passage through fire results in shedding flab and the work turning incisive and crystalline. So, Neeti though seemingly cool evidently harbours a raging ocean within her which often defies bounds and spills over seeking emphatic expression.
Over the years I have been deeply moved by her poetry as being insightful and stirring invariably touching a chord within me. I always look forward to reading her next work as a source of inspiration and nourishment for the soul.
