Poetry from a doctor?

Sounds unlikely?

Then do take a look.

This is a poet’s dialogue with life

The eternal tussle of joy and strife

The sojourn of mind across countless miles

Of human affliction, tears and smiles

Dreams, desires, aspirations and hopes

Bound by Love’s invisible silken ropes

Thoughts untethered cantering along Time’s sands

This is not a book but my soul in your hands.

Neeti works as a qualified Psychiatrist in the UK.

Her poems are born from her own experiences of life and from intimate association with human suffering.

She has been writing since her teenage years and has won several awards and accolades for her work.

This book is a reflective and intimate journey through both the agony and ecstasy of life  and would be a wonderful gift for lovers of nature and soft poetry.

Neeti was born and raised in India but has lived in the UK since 1994.

She obtained her basic medical degree in India, then studied and trained as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. Later she went on to obtain a Masters’ degree from the Royal College of Psychiatry and currently works at a Consultant level for the NHS.

Neeti developed an interest in writing at an early age and during her childhood and teenage years, she wrote at local and national levels. In college and university, her short stories and poems were published frequently in alumni magazines.

Her passion for poetry took back-stage for several years whilst she grappled with the vagaries of life. It resurfaced a few years ago, leading to the publication of some of her poems on social-media sites. She developed a wide readership, giving her the impetus to publish this book.

Neeti also writes poetry in Hindi and plans to publish her next book of anthology in this language.

Thoughts Untethered by Neeti Sandhu is a sweet and simple book. I recommend you read it by choosing a poem you feel drawn to start with. I started with True Love and then A Smile. Anyone can read and enjoy the wisdom it provides from relationships, to love, to spirituality. It is not filled with extraordinary enlightenment, and that is the best part about it!

We have all lived moments that leave an indelible mark on our lives, on who we are. Some are moments of growth and some threaten to swallow le us while. These poems help us understand our experiences…what is important …. and can help us heal. Some of the poems that really spoke to me were Down Memory Lane, The Treasure Chest and to Dad and Mom to name but a few. A very special book in which Ms Sandhu brings her poet’s quill and I would also suggest insights as a physician to her readers leaving them eagerly awaiting her next book!

What an amazing book. A life story translated into beautifully written poems. The author is so genuine and it all feels so real. So beautifully and cleverly written, clearly the product of an intelligent mind with a delicate and sensitive soul. I know that I will read these poems over and over again as the emotions they convey are so incredibly powerful and real. Thank you for sharing this, I absolutely love this book. It is a must-read!

    "Thoughts untethered -A Poet's Quill "
by Neeti Sandhu is a simple, sincere, spontaneous, serene and sensitive portrayal of various shades of human emotions, expressed without the burden of veiled intellectualism or pretension of philosophical abstractions.
The poetess bares her heart to display all the stars and scars, hopes and despairs, triumphs and tribulations of life, with utmost ease, as if talking to herself in the stillness of the night. Though pain and longing are recurring themes running through most of these poems , they do not slide into self-consuming melancholy. Instead, they are sublimated into gratitude, thankfulness and positivity. Through all the dark clouds, she paints life with a ray of sunshine.
Many a time she draws warmth from things happening around her, while at other times, Nature with all its grandeur finds expression in her words. In some instances, important events and occurrences around her, effortlessly blend themselves in captivating rhymes, and on certain occasions, she floats into reverie, without any laboured effort of being analytical or judgemental.
Going through "Thoughts Untethered - A poet's quill " by Neeti Sandhu is like watching a stream flowing silently through a forest covered with mist.
I strongly recommend this anthology to anyone who draws solace from tender thoughts, in these difficult times.

A really engaging collection. The topics covered are clearly very personal to the poet but articulated in a forensic detail which I guess is no surprise given she is a qualified psychiatrist! Dr Sandhu writes with real passion and precision about family, the connections we make and the natural world. Recommended.

What a wonderful collection of poems - describing so beautifully the intimate details of the intricacies of life. It was artistry at its very best. I was captivated, in awe from start to finish. I shared the joy, I shared the pain and yes, I shed a tear too. The use of words and imagery transported me - I felt humbled to have been given a glimpse into your untethered thoughts and I look forward to reading more of your works in the future.

What will grab your attention right from the very beginning is the ease and fluency with which the ideas flow. That the words rhyme is just a happy coincidence, there is a story and a message in each one of these wonderfully crafted poems. The poet's life experiences are captured beautifully in this lyrical masterpiece. Must read!
