I was born in 1955 in Perth, West Australia to Latvian parents. Being of migrant parents I was encouraged to seek an education. I attended Murdoch University where I gained a BSc in Extractive Metallurgy which led me to eventually working in the diamond exploration.
After my daughter, Katie was born (1986) and over some time, I began to noticed Katie’s great fascination with her soft, fluffy toy animals. All except one. This poor pink bunny was always left on the bookcase when all the others were sitting with Katie on her bed. So, one night I asked her why the pink bunny was left out. Katie’s answer of ‘I don’t like her, she’s bossy’ led us to many years of play (as a teaching tool for Katie) and eventually resulted in me writing the first book, The Story of Pink Bunny and later Excitable Bunny and other titles which are currently with the publisher, related to the world we created.
Pink Bunny is a highly educated, artistic, hardworking, loving and she is a bossy bunny. Mind you she is also Dr Pink Bunny, Head of the most internationally renowned hospital in the world, Star Swamp Hospital and a ballet teacher in her spare time!
Take note of each individual even if they seem different. The encouragement of independent strong female role models or empathic understanding of all creatures that walk the earth are values that are treasured within the world created.
Katie, eventually went on to become an international model now living in Paris and at one time she wrote articles for Harper’s Bazaar. She has also gained a PhD in Nutrition from Westminster University, is fluent in French and travels the world having many rewarding experiences. www.katieball.com
Pink Bunny may have influence her!
Retiring from the mining industry I eventually volunteered my time to the School Services section of Princess Margaret Hospital (our children’s hospital here in Perth, now PCH) where I was allocated the Oncology Ward Primary School. I worked there every Tuesday for ten years. I was also lucky enough to read my manuscript The Story of Pink Bunny on Radio Lollipop before it was formally published.
(I have also had an article published in a Scientific Magazine under my maiden name.)
At one time I was also a member of The Story Teller’s Association here in West Australia which was fun.
Now, I continue to develop and write my Bunny Series stories and I also write mini stories for my Instagram account @thebunnyseries usually twice a week. I also have a web address https://thebunnyseries.com
Take note that The Bunny Series style has changed. Katie is now the illustrator and the old version of The Story of Pink Bunny (soon not to be available) will be replaced with the new look introduced by the second book of the series, Excitable Bunny. (Now Available.)
Keep following the adventures of Dr Pink Bunny on @thebunnyseries webpage and instagram account. Read news articles and find out more about the gang by reading their Bios. There are fabulous articles on The Bunny Tales Blog and MORE.
There is always excitement in the Bunny World!
I live south of the port of Fremantle with my husband and two cats.
