An excellent read. The characters are well developed and convincing. I loved the slow burn it had me guessing all the way through and when it came, I was not expecting the climax.
The Story – Be careful what you read. 5 stars A great story, highly original and very exciting. I read this on my kindle while I was on holiday, and it has made me want to go to Kefalonia and visit all the places mentioned.
The Story – Be careful what you read. 5 stars The cover of this book really drew me in. I met the author and bought it on the spot once he told me that it was a supernatural suspense. I was not disappointed.
I was fortunate enough to meet the author of this book and buy a signed copy from him. I must admit I was sceptical when TG Trouper explained the premise, in that it’s a story within a story and that you read what the character is reading. But WOW! Supernatural or what! This book had me hooked from the start and I finished it in one day. I might just have to read it all over again.
The Story - Be Careful What You Read* by T G Trouper is a gripping and unsettling thriller that explores the eerie power of words and the consequences of diving too deeply into a story. The novel begins with an innocent purchase—a simple e-book that Gabby, a demure and shy character, buys for her partner, Daniel, as a last-minute gift. What starts as a lighthearted gesture quickly spirals into a psychological suspense-filled narrative as Daniel discovers the book is far more sinister than it first appears. The tension builds gradually as Daniel notices strange coincidences between the events in the story and their real lives. What begins as a spy thriller soon morphs into a terrifying account that seems to predict their future. Trouper does a masterful job of blending reality with fiction, making the line between the two increasingly blurred as Daniel becomes consumed by the book’s hold on him. The dynamic between Daniel and Gabby is also compelling, as his growing obsession with the e-book causes emotional rifts, driving her away into the arms of another man, leaving Daniel isolated in his fight to uncover the truth. One of the most intriguing aspects of the novel is how the e-book itself begins to communicate with Daniel, changing words and manipulating the narrative in real time. The sense of dread and inevitability is palpable as Daniel realizes he can never stop reading—each new page brings him closer to an increasingly dangerous future. This concept adds a layer of psychological horror that keeps readers on edge, questioning the power of storytelling itself and the darker forces at play. T G Trouper’s writing is both suspenseful and immersive, drawing readers into the same trap that ensnares Daniel. The slow unraveling of his life, paired with the mounting tension between him and Gabby, creates an emotional depth that adds to the novel’s haunting atmosphere. Trouper cleverly uses the theme of escapism through reading to explore how easily one can lose control when reality and fiction collide.
Daniel, the main character, becomes hugely curious about the story he is reading as it begins to echo his life and relationship. When Daniel tries to warn his partner what the book predicts for them, she won't listen. Somehow it has possessed her resulting in horrific events. The author has gone to very dark places with this story which thriller and horror readers will love. Aspects of TV show 'Tales of The Unexpected' are clear, which will appeal to mystery readers. There are explicit sex scenes too, but these are brief and in-keeping with the unpredictability of the demon book. An interesting idea on which to base a plot. If you like blood and gore, then this is definitely the book for you.
Very good book for a creeping horror. Not to spoil to much but I throughly enjoyed this book.
