A woman is murdered in London. Another in Dundee. Not particularly unusual. What is strange is when the body in Scotland vanishes from the mortuary she was being kept in, Initially the police in Dundee withdraw from investigating her murder when it was discovered she had travelled from London before being killed. With there now being a potential link, DCI Steve Burt takes on both cases. Uncovering a lot more than he ever could have envisaged, the resulting repercussions for some mean they will go to extreme lengths to prevent being discovered. This book had me hooked straightaway, which partly was due to the story, and partly the quality of the writing. As I was reading I thought how easily and successfully this could be turned into a tv series and how likely it would be a popular one. I felt the book was the right length; although it was slightly larger size wise and the font was a little larger too. I believe this would appeal to many, and I highly recommend it.
Thrilled to be reading this author again. The 9th book in the DCI Steve Burt series & it was just like nestling in with friends & waiting to see what happens. Steve & his team are asked by Police Scotland to investigate the murder of two women, one in Dundee & the other in London. The cases appear to have no link. However, when the body of the victim in Scotland is stolen & the life of the London victim is looked into, it is more than apparent that they are. Once again the team find themselves involved in a case of political greed, major corruption and tracing a ruthless killer. Steve gets some help and information from an unexpected source & questions his future with the Special Resolutions Team. This is another gripping DCI Burt thriller with unforeseen twists which will keep your attention to the end. Do yourself a favour & put this on your reading list today
The Scottish Murder had me hooked from the beginning, if it wasn't for pesky things like sleeping and work, I would have stayed in, binge reading this novel. It was hard to put down and I was itching to pick it back up when I did. I loved how we had murder upon murder in this novel and nothing was straightforward, I liked the corruption and how it all unravelled. The characters were great and really fleshed out, the new addition of Alicia Craig was good but I would have liked to see more of her. I felt she could have been a great substitute for Poppy - who I still miss! I love the dynamic of Steve Burt's team and how they all work together. The writing in this novel like the others is great, it's full of descriptions and every day's events and set out so well. These novels could literally play out on the TV, the information and descriptions combined create the perfect picture whilst reading. I always say it when reviewing this series but I honestly would and could watch a TV show based on these. Another terrific read, I'm looking forward to the next ( I hope there's a next).
