I loved you.

My all, I gave to you

But It was an assumption.

I assumed you wanted my all,

My love, my protection, my flaws.

I gave blindly to a blind love.

Wondering why I got burnt

By a flame you never lit.

Cautiously entering the flames

Of love  alight with the spark from within.

My flames will keep me warm.

I no longer need yours.

A collection of poems about the journey of love, lust and loss.

Bella Beaucoup is a twenty-one-year-old psychology and English major from South Australia. She wrote this anthology whilst in the coastal town of Porto Venere in Northern Italy. Bella has always connected with poetry and began writing her own words at the age of ten. She loves poetry and sees it as the conduit between one’s souls and the outside world.
