Brian Shepherd worked in the mental health service for much of his life. This book of poems describes a difficult time while working in a day-hospital, trying to achieve a work/life balance during various crises with both patients and management.
Brian is now retired and spends his time with family and friends. He is active in various campaigns such as global warming.
"These fascinating and devasting poems describe the poet's efforts to truly see and heal the people with whom he worked, to love those patients he could, be fair to those he could not, and his unending struggles to turn the system into a truly therapeutic environment and the impact this work had on his own life."
