Christine Kavanagh loves to see the personality in animals. All of the animals contained within The Adventures at Hog Farm books were real animals which Christine had observed when she lived on a farm in North Yorkshire, England. At aged 60, she decided to share her experiences with her readers and hope they enjoy reading about them as much as she did seeing it all happen.
My daughter thought this book was just lovely. She enjoyed it very much and I’m sure it will be a book that she will read and read again.
Great little read for the kids , and as soon as I finished it they mentioned the friendship part of the message ( which I thought was really educational for them ) really hoping Chritine Kavanagh writes some more , so I can read them to my children soon .
Really lovely book - it' was as though your were reading about children not animals - I love it can't wait for the next adventures. it would make a great gift for any child. My 3 grandchildren (3,5 and 9) thought it was brilliant - the youngest just loved the kitten, the middle one though the animals were great and all the words about them, the eldest said 'I enjoyed how you made such ordinary, every day farm animals have such a wide range of emotions'. Highly recommended.
Bought this book for my two sons. One is 3 and the other 7. I read the book to them both and they really enjoyed it. The next day I walked into my lounge to hear my older son reading it again to my younger one. So, It must be good. Good read.
Great read, my kids absolutely loved it!
I bought this book for my daughter and I to read together and WE loved it. The story is charming and the kittens demonstrate some lovely emotions and lessons, it has quickly become a favourite to be read and re-read. I particularly liked the gentle stranger reminder and the introduction to French which gave us chance to have a giggle trying out some new words too. We can’t wait to read more Adventures at Hog Farm.
Highly recommended.
I absolutely love the book as a cat lover myself it reminded me of my own cats and what they get up to can't wait to read it to my nephew he'll love it and here's hoping for adventures at hog farm 2
I loved this glorious story of courage, adventure and triumph over adversity. It tells the tale of an unlikely friendship and does it all in a language that small children will understand and enjoy. The illustrations are colourful and bold to match the narrative. It has opened the way for many more stories of adventure for the animals at Hog Farm. Congratulations Christine on this debut story!
