When a new litter of baby bunnies pushes sad little Rae too far down in the burrow, she hops off alone into the meadow determined to find someone who cares just for her. But the big world quickly proves scary for the small rabbit. Getting lost and hungry, Rae hopes her busy parents will come take her home. Safe back in the burrow, Rae learns that her parents’ love reaches farther than she knew, wrapping snugly around every kit. She realizes that with an open heart, there is enough care and affection to embrace the whole bustling brood. This tender tale reminds children they’re never forgotten, however crowded life’s burrows may feel.

Danielle Chapman-Skaines originates from the deep south of Texas and grew up traveling North America and Europe with parents who worked with charities to build supportive communities for youth in deprived areas. Danielle continued this work, volunteering to support children, until she became a teacher. First working as an artist and illustrator, she sought to address issues impacting children today by writing children’s stories alongside her illustrations.
