Catherine O'Connor takes the reader on a stark journey through the experience of grief. In the sparest of language she brings us into her personal loss, into its isolation and desolation . While recognising that death and grief are universal, Catherine shows how the universality doesn't take away the individual pain. This is also a work of hope, which ends with the windows open, the garden tended as a modicum of peace descends. It is a lovely companion for anyone muddling their way through loss.

A beautiful collection of heartfelt truths - some expected, others overwhelming in their intensity. A book of poems I will keep & read again, and again, recommend for friends & family for when grief becomes life, until kindness weaves us back into a new normal.

I found this to be an excellent representation of the grieving process. When my husband died suddenly 4 years ago I was absolutely shattered. People meant well but I felt they really did not understand what I was and still am going through. My aunt showed me this book and I wish I had gotten it years ago. It is very easy to read and to identify with the emotions expressed.

The journey from despair to hope is captured so well in poetic and sincere words straight from the heart. This book will give hope to anyone who has lost a loved one.

Had a lump in my throat reading this...what a beautiful and touching way of expressing that deep emotion called 'grief'. It's personal but the reader immediately empathises, as everyone has experienced grief in some form. It gives an insight into deep feelings of loss, of loss of love, loneliness, longing, emptiness and the unfairness of it all. Only you can understand what it is. Highly recommend.

It is powerful and sad and at the same time soothes the soul. I will read these poems again and again and also recommend to anyone going through their own grief.

Startlingly honest, a raw and sometimes gut wrenching story of grief and yet we finish with a lesson in love and hope and strength and a return to a different pattern of living
