Stephen, a member of Mensa, was born in 1940 during WWII. Educated at Highgate School, he left at 17 to run a provincial theatre with business partner Robert Stigwood. Back in London they became the paramount musical management company in London in the late ’50s and early ’60s, producing many number one hits. After parting with Robert in 1964, Stephen produced more hits, culminating in his management of Lionel Bart before Bart’s triumph with eleven Oscar Nominations for the film of Oliver. Later Stephen floated six public companies in the UK and USA and created three private property companies. He retired in 2017 to write and to manage his wife, Dr Patti Boulaye OBE. His autobiographical book You’ve Got to Pick a Pocket or Two was published in 2021 by Kaleidoscope Publishing.
This book was fun to read! I'm sure Stephen Komlosy had great pleasure creating these characters and scenarios and making his own daydreams come to life... A light-hearted romp with echoes of classic sci-fi and thrillers, along with autobiographical elements to spot for those who have read previous works by the author and his wife. An enjoyable read which doesn't take itself too seriously.
I received this book as a gift. I’d initially read Stephen Komlosy’s excellent autobiographical book “You’ve Got to Pick a Pocket or Two” about his management of Lionel Bart, the creator of the hit musical Oliver, so, I was looking forward to reading Komlosy’s first foray into Science Fiction.
This is a very different book, which is quite light-hearted and a fun read that people shouldn’t take too seriously. There are echoes of James Bond meets Star Trek meets Yes Minister!
An enjoyable read!
