Bill Wonder, the tyrannical billionaire fashion tycoon is found splattered on the pavement outside his fashion school in the West End of London.

Was he pushed from the balcony, did he jump, or it could have happened because of his high heel shoes?

The mystery of his death is stitched together by Sadie Silver, a hapless fashion history teacher, who needs to understand the incident to uncover her family’s sartorial secrets.

But wait, could she have killed Bill?

After all, she was the last person to see Bill alive, and he really seemed to hate her new look.

Henry Cornes was a children’s television researcher at the BBC before moving on to lecturing in art and fashion history at various universities and colleges. He lives in London and makes stained glass windows when not writing fashion books.

  • A Must Read Book

This book is absolutely brilliant. From the first chapter to the last, it has you enthralled. You engage with the main character, Sadie, although she's somewhat a hapless person. A satirical read, so cleverly written, it has you chuckling throughout. I can't recommend it highly enough to do it justice.

ATTENTION...This book is so Captivating you won't be able to put it down.

Just started reading this book by Henry Cornes and am already enchanted.

The story line is very interesting and the humour is most engaging.

This book is written in such a clever way, that there are several depth that it can be read in.

Have already laughed and cried, had my mind opened and my intellect improved.

It's not a run of the mill book and I'm most impressed by this new author's clarity of story telling, exceptional use of words, his characters and their story lines.

I will read the book over again when finished and can't wait for a sequel Henry please.

Do "stitch together" the next sequence in this fascinating world of fashion.

Thank you for the best read in a very long time.

    Fripperies and Fobs

I came upon this book quite by accident whilst looking for something else. Part whodunit and part poke at the fripperies and fobs within the fashion industry. I gave it a go, howled with laughter and passed it on to my husband who kept me awake at night with his suppressed laughter in bed.

This is a great read but it isn't just a fashion based romp: it is a substantial poke at the effete, whimsical nature of the fashion industry.

This book is simply fantastic. The world it is set in was so bizarre, and gripped me from beginning to end! Wish it was longer :)

It is obvious the author of this great read has comprehensive knowledge of the complexity, passion and madness of the fashion industry. I couldn't help but think of those 'outfits' that Bubbles wore in 'Absolutely Fab', it all makes sense now! I love reading a book that makes me look up words and the well-written structure of the writing meant you didn't want to rush it. Some sentences were amazingly rich in composition and language.
Having little interest in fashion or its industry until now, it was certainly intriguing how it is portrayed. I found once I got going and read it in bigger chunks, it was a fun book and like one of the other reviewers says, there has to be a follow-up. Come on Sadie, what are you going to get up to next !!!???

    A Fabulous Fashion Mystery
An intriguing mystery set in an entirely believable dystopian fashion/retail future.
The author cleverly weaves his knowledge of the fashion world and it's history with fantasy leaving the reader sometimes unable to discern what is real.
At times disorientating he covers rather disturbing aspects of this imagined world and the outlandish characters with wry observation and laugh out loud humour.
I loved it and am looking forward to the next adventure, hopefully discovering more about the stylish if enigmatic heroine Sadie Silver.

I’m loving this book and I am half way through and I know it’s building up to who pushed Bill or not, I really like the characterisation with the emphasis on clothes and it is thoroughly witty and unique. It's a fond reminder of my youthful obsession with designer labels...hoping it would define me... in the same way that all of the fashion students in this novel hope for. Is this the end of the epoch?
