“The world was changing rapidly around me, and I was just running to catch up. But sometimes it is nice to go for a jog.”Nora is stuck between a world of misery back at her apartment and a harsh, unloving reality just outside of it. She’s caught in the entanglement of what to do with her life when her bartender invites himself into her booth. What starts as a slightly creepy opening line ends with what seems to be an offering to join a cult… either that or be murdered. But Nora didn’t have anything better going for her. And why return to the violent atmosphere back at the apartment when a door to relief has just been opened?
Elle Jones is an Australian author and journalist. She grew up in Hong Kong before moving to Australia. She began writing when she was a young girl, put up to the task of writing one story a day in the mornings to train her creative mind. These three sentence stories soon developed to be Elle’s first chapter book, written when she was in year five. Her next full book would be Euphoric, written originally at the height of the pandemic in 2020, and published years later.
