Of Irish decent, Donald Peters was educated in England before moving to New Zealand to work with the Ryal New Zealand Navy. In 1976 he graduated from Victoria University of Wellington with a degree in Economics. He never got to use the degree for anything other than the letters behind his name. He was dragged into the world of computers. He still runs a computer software company, volunteers at the Citizens Advice Bureau, coaches badminton, and finds time to write stories recalling events that his past careers have touched on.
