  I wrote this book because I have been becoming evermore concerned over the years as to what we humans have been doing to planet earth, and wanting to warn you as to what the inevitable end result might be. What is happening in Ukraine, and what has happened recently in Turkey and Syria has just underlined that concern. I have rated the book with five stars, but as its writer, I would think you would expect me to do that.

  I am writing this review on behalf of the above; My two grandsons at six and four are a little bit too young to read Chloe's Extraordinary Telescope, so I told the story to them, briefing it down to suit their concentration levels. The older boy summed it up with, "it was very good, but sad that the adults did not believe the children", and the younger boy said.."I loved it !"

  I found reading Chloe's Extraordinary Telescope fuelled my imagination, and once I got into the story I had a job to put the book down. I am 69 years old but it is a book for anyone.

  This book is a good thought-provoking read as the reader joins Chloe on her adventures. Although marketed at the children's or young adult market, I think this book will also appeal to adults as well. I really enjoyed it.

  The main characters in this book are a girl and a boy aged around 10, and it’s suited for those around that age. The author sets out plausible family settings for the period around the year 2000 in provincial England. Into that, she introduces an antique telescope that can show the future when used by children, but not by adults. The introduction of a sci-fi angle into domestic life is portrayed well, and is plausible for young readers, as are the issues of climate change, and the broader future of civilization. The style is readable, with short chapters, and welcomes readers of any age.

  I’ve enjoyed this story and will pass it on to my grandchildren to read over the long Summer holiday.
  
  Claire depicts this tale of a lonely girl with pedestrian unimaginative parents with great sensitivity. When Chloe discovers a window into other worlds it gives her life meaning and excitement. She has found a secret place of discovery and wonder.
  
  When her parents find out, the story picks up speed and becomes a real page-turner.
  
  I recommend this book to anyone willing to be taken on an adventure...
