Maria Meakin is a Brisbane-based, Australian children’s author. A mother to four, Maria works with children in schools as a teacher aide and loves writing books that children can relate to, read alone, or share aloud with others. She creates stories with understanding and compassion to help those around her approach sensitive issues. Maria loves to travel and spend time having adventures with her family.

    Being Me is a book that shows compassion and support for living your truest life. This book will be a game changer to support our smaller humans struggling to live in the body they were born and that older humans in such peoples life some of the biggest factors are to support with acceptance, love and kindness. A beautifully written book with the cutest illustrations. Highly recommended Being Me.

    I found this book such a good read. At times I felt very sad for the author. A fascinating life is full of incidences, some sad and some happy.
    A very uplifting story that inspired me. I can't wait to read the next book. I would recommend this book. It would help people with autism like me.
