Three Chilling Reads
With the run up to Halloween in our midst, it is important to celebrate what makes this season so terrifying. Amongst dressing up and eating lots of treats… sit down, relax and allow literature to give you the creeps. Here at Austin Macauley we have come up with our pick of the most spine-chilling books and our essentials for any horror fan to read.
1) Lady In The Rain – 20-year-old Sarah has died at the hands of her lover, but her death is not her end. Full of rage, Sarah’s spirit returns as a succubus, bent on revenge, and no unfaithful man is safe in her path. However, when her “white energy” catches the attention of two more sinister succubae (Livia and Alexis), the hunt is on to destroy her. Will they take the white energy for themselves to become invincible in the universe? Will Livia and Alexis kill her? Will Sarah be able to enact her revenge?
2) Breeding – A strain of vampires with super strength, a sixth sense, and the ability to shape change, who can kill in seconds. It is a race against time to find a way to capture all of them and destroy them. But how? In a sleepy town in England close to the southern coast, Carlos and his loving wife Tanya and their teenage son Lewis are put through the worst nightmare they could ever imagine: a plague of vampires. They must not only fight to save their lives but the whole town. No one is safe, not even your children. Your blood is not the only thing they need.
3) The Purge – In an epic sequel to The Awakening, the town of Rockdale is rocked by a series of cataclysmic events that threatens to bring about an ancient prophecy: one that foretells of a blood moon and the mass extinction of all mankind at the hands of the Nequam. The Nequam’s hold over Rockdale intensifies as Ash Wakehurst fights to end its reign and free his twin brother, Logan, from its maniacal grip. Ash is humanity’s last hope as he possesses the only weapon to stop the Nequam and its army of werewolves: the powerful Triune entity that surges within him. An entity that he fears he can no longer control.
