This recycle week, teach your children about the importance of recycling

This week is Recycle Week, which is an annual celebration of recycling and a great opportunity to inform others on the importance of recycling. This year will mark the 18th Recycle Week, in which time numerous brands, retailers, governments and much more, all come together to educate the public on the importance of recycling, as well as informing people what items/materials can and cannot be recycled.

We believe it’s important that children know about the importance of recycling and what they can do to help! Making future generations conscious about their waste will hopefully lead to more and more recycling in the coming years, meaning less land fill. We’ve composed a list of children’s books that are great for teaching kid’s about recycling and the impact that littering has on our planet and wildlife.

Rag Doll Lost

By Pauline Emsley

Rag Doll falls out of Georgie’s bag whilst on a fun day out and gets left behind. She lies alone all night and the following day, visited by some curious country animals. The world is busy around her and she is not alone!

With relief, she is found and Georgie comes up with a brilliant idea. By using old recycled odds and ends, she creates something perfect to ensure she never loses her beloved friend EVER AGAIN!

What else could be snuffling around at night? Many animals are nocturnal and sleep in the daytime. They rely on their sense of smell to find food, some have good eyesight to see in the dark, and others have very good hearing to hear the tiniest mouse.

Finally, recycling can be fun and cheap. Instead of throwing things away, use them and get creative. You will be looking after our planet too.
