It's National Cookbook Month, and We're Cooking Up a Storm!
October is National Cookbook month, and here at Austin Macauley we’re cooking up a storm thanks to our wide array of cookery books. Containing mouth-watering recipes across a wide array of cuisines, here are three of our favourites:
The Art of Parsi Cooking: Reviving an Ancient Cuisine
Niloufer Mavalvala's The Art of Parsi Cooking introduces Parsi cooking -- shaped by Persian and Indian cuisines. With easy preparation and appetizing flavours, Niloufer’s history of Parsi cuisine is fascinating and well-written. Accompanied by tempting recipes, The Art of Parsi Cooking fills a gap in the world of cookbooks.
Our favourite dish: Thinga na Curry Chawal (Shrimp Coconut Curry with Rice)
A Taste of Home: An Indian Bengali Cookbook
This is a recipe book with a difference! This cookbook is a collaborative project between the author and her children so it has a special, personal touch. The author and her family are from Calcutta, West Bengal and the range of mouth-watering recipes in this book are unique because they are only found in Indian Bengali Hindu home cooking. These recipes cannot be found in any ordinary Indian restaurant anywhere in the world and once you and your friends try them, you’ll know why these recipes are different and will want to come back for more!
Our favourite dish: "Shukto"
Bengal Cuisine introduces us to the cuisine of the West Bengal region of India. Food is a passion for Bengalis and cuisine there is distinctive and different from the cuisine of other parts of India. Maya Ray Chaudhuri uses ingredients that are commonly available and shows how simple it is to cook Bengali food creating subtle tastes with very little spice, showing us how easy and rewarding true Bengal Cuisine can be.
Our favourite dish: Chicken Curry
