Easter Weekend tends to be the time that everyone wants to get out and about with their families and what better way to do that than planning this around literary events?

You may think us biased to say so, but we think that really there’s no greater alternative. With this in mind we have curated a list of events happening this Easter Weekend around the UK. Have a look below and see what takes your fancy.

In-Store Events

All Easter Weekend Waterstones shops around the country are holding themed events, from Easter Egg Hunts to Easter Card making!

On Friday Waterstones Glasgow, Argyle Street will be holding and Easter Card Activities event where you can join them for some glittery Easter card making fun between 10:00am and 4:30pm, the event will stretch right through until Sunday.

Waterstones in Bury St. Edmunds will be hosting an ‘eggciting’ egg hunt through their store. Drop by and seek out the coloured eggs hidden around the shop for the chance of winning a chocolatey prize.

On Saturday 26th March Foyles in Birmingham are theming their Easter Egg Hunt around the infamous Peter Rabbit as part of the Beatrix Potter 150th Celebrations. Join Peter on his adventure to find the ten eggs hidden in-store from 11am-4pm. The event will be replicated in Foyles, Westfields Stratford on Monday as well.

Basingstoke shopping centre, Festival Place is inviting shoppers to enjoy story time with Peppa Pig and George this Saturday. Story-time sessions, led by a narrator, will take place at intervals between 11am and 4pm.

Other Events

On Friday our author Carole Phillips will be at Cockington Gallery signing copies of ‘Blue Line – Pink Thread’. If you’re around the area of Torquay this Good Friday, then be sure to pop down!

For those of you based in the North East, ARC, Stockton’s Art Centre will be putting on ‘The Curious Adventures of Pinocchio’. This is the title of Lyngo’s new show. Lyngo Theatre have adapted this epic tale into a unique retelling where the story leaps off the page and onto the stage. Performances will be held at 11.30am and 2.30pm on Friday 25th March.

Why not visit the Michael Rosen exhibition at Discover Children’s Story Centre, London for an interactive family exhibition. This event is great if you have children aged 0-11! Step inside a large chocolate cake and explore a secret larder, make your way through a Bear Hunt…and dare you explore the Bad Things in the Dread Shed?

On Saturday author of ‘Life and Death of a Foot Soldier’, Graham Armstrong will be signing copies of his book at Sandwich Library in Kent from 11am onwards.

WHSmith Llanelli will be hosting a signing with author Wendy Kehoe on Saturday as well between 11am-3pm. In Wendy’s debut children’s book ‘The Dollymops’ children can help The Dollymops decorate the yard with an explosion of colour - helping them to develop their creative skills.
