Celebrate Victory in Europe Day With Our Patriotic Reads
What Happened on VE Day?
8th May is celebrated as Victory in Europe Day in Britain and the US. It was a day in the year 1945 when Nazi forces in Germany surrendered, ending the second world war in Europe that claimed millions of lives and went on for six years. This war brought many adversities with it, from mass killings, poverty and food scarcity to raids, blackouts and overall gloom. It is important to note here that the second world war didn’t end on this day. It kept going on, until Victory over Japan Day. This was September 2, 1945, when the war finally ended. That day is known as VJ Day.
