Celebrate National Share-a-Story Month with Austin Macauley Publishers

“You’re never going to kill storytelling because it’s built in the human plan. We come with it.”

-Margaret Atwood

Storytelling dates back to the advent of human life on earth. The modes of communication might have changed, however, the importance of telling stories has always remained the same. Stories are a great way to communicate, engage and reflect the individual knowledge and experiences.

Since storybooks play an integral part in constructing children’s personalities and broadening their vision, The Federation of Children’s Book Groups came up with the initiative of National Share-a-Story Month to bring together the children and stories. It is a celebration of the art of storytelling and story-sharing. The Federation of Children’s Book Groups hosts different events all across the country to inspire children to read storybooks and share stories. Each year, the month of May is dedicated to the celebration with a theme. For the year 2020, the theme is The Planet We Share. Children are encouraged to read, write, illustrate and share stories about the planet Earth, humans, animals and environment during this month.

While the month is celebrated through different book reading and storytelling competitions in schools and libraries, this year we suggest you celebrate the month while staying home. Authors can host some online book reading events while parents can get their kids different storybooks to read, set a storytime for kids and encourage them to share stories.

Austin Macauley Publishers bring some of their amazing children’s books related to the theme for our little readers to relish during the National Share-a-Story Month.
