The Beauty of Autumn
Autumn. The season between summer and winter in which the temperature begins to change and the leaves begin to fall. Many consider autumn to be the period from the autumn equinox (when day and night are equal) to the winter solstice (the shortest period of daylight and the longest night of the year). Below we have listed a few countries that should definitely be on your list to visit during the autumn season:
- Switzerland – Switzerland typically has autumn weather between September and November.
- Denmark – Autumn is also between September to November here.
- Canada – ‘Fall’ lasts a little longer here; between September to December.
- England – We may be a little biased, but we definitely think autumn (between September and November) is beautiful.
In the Northern Hemisphere autumn typically falls between September, October and November. Whereas in the Southern Hemisphere, this lies between the months of March, April and May.
When you think of this season, what comes to mind first? Perhaps it’s the colours of the trees, your favourite coffee or maybe even the haunted night of Halloween. This holiday began as the festival of Samhain, it was part of an ancient Celtic religion in which towards the end of summer, the Celts believed the barrier between our world and the spirit world grew thin. In order to prevent strange beings from entering our world, they would dress up in attempts to scare them away. This tradition has carried on for centuries and is now what we call Halloween.
We have chosen a few of our books that we think to represent autumn well and we would love for you to vote for your favourite cover here.
