5 TIPS TO MANAGE STRESS TO HELP YOU GET INTO YOUR CREATIVE ZONE

For many, writing is a passion. Some find it easy to dabble in words, to write a paragraph, an article or an entire story or novel in a short period of time. But for a lot of us, we can hit a wall at times and experience writers block or find ourselves in a creative rut and in need of new inspiration to trigger our imagination.

Writer’s block can stem from anxiety or a lack of sleep or motivation. Whatever the cause, experiencing writer’s block can be stressful, especially if there’re deadlines involved.

You may find that you experience a lack of enthusiasm and are in need of motivation. The reality is that the only person who can motivate you is you! Others can try, and you may read all the motivational quotes you want, but that can only do good to a certain extent, as it's all futile if you refuse to encourage your own self.

Be gentle with yourself during the writing process. One step at a time, one word at a time, one paragraph at a time and eventually, one chapter at a time.

Great for your physical health but can also provide a much needed break. Writing is a complex process, and exercise can be very beneficial, especially for motivation.

It’s important not to be too hard on yourself and wanting everything to be perfect can put a lot of pressure on your work. We’re humans, and we all make mistakes. In some cases a mistake can inspire a new idea, so it’s not a bad thing to make mistakes along the way.

4. Take a Break From the Internet

The world of social media can be a massively stressful place. It opens our eyes to more and more of what’s going on in the world, the good, the bad and the frightening. If you’re checking Facebook, Instagram and Twitter on a regular basis throughout the day, not only can this distract you from your writing, but there’s always the possibility of finding a post or article which could have a negative impact on your mental state at a time when you’re needing to be as productive as you can.

5. Breathe and Relax

As cliché as it might sound, it is the simplest of things you can do to tone down your stress levels. Taking a moment to breath can be pretty beneficial, giving you an opportunity to gather your thoughts. Additionally reading can reap great benefits when trying to relax.
